I Am so depressed and I Don't know what is causing it. I Am living with a Brain stem glioma and have been on vicodin for about eight months.Recently I have ben terribly depressed and I was wondering if it could be the medication. I take vicodin and Lortab. This is a real emergency and you all have been a great support in the past although this is my first post but I read your suggestions often. Please respond and if you would like to Privately help me through your experience that would be greatly appreciated. You can write me at

Hi Tina,

I'm not sure if your message will be read by enough people here in the Introductions section. You might want to repost down in the Medical Conditions area. I know you'll find a lot of support there. I've been taking Vicodin myself for a while, and sometimes I feel like my emotions are less pronounced--kind of dead, if you know what I mean. I wish I could be of more help--you'll find people here who will be able to answer your questions, though.

Good luck, hon.

Sheena

Welcome to the board Tina. FYI...a lot of people complain about hydro causing depression. Once you get used to moving around on the board you'll find lots of info! We had a thread going on this not long ago. Kind of goes hand in hand for me - when I'm in pain, I get depressed - then when I take the hydro I get that sense of well being, the pain melts away and I feel like a normal human being that can function again - then it wears off and that's when the depression sets in. Vicious cycle.

Hi Tina!
I was talking to another member here just yesterday about depression and wondering whether it was the pain meds that caused it or just the pain itself. I think for myself it may be alittle of both. I know when I wake up first thing in the morning, the depression is BAD then after taking my morning dose, I feel alittle better, but then also my pain is bearable too. So, if I'm making any sense at all, I think the depression is a combination of our pain and that fact that we have to take meds to feel halfway normal.

I used to run about 3-5 miles a day (depending on how I felt that day) and even ran a marathon once. Now I'm lucky if I can make it out to the mailbox without looking like a 90 year old woman. That alone is depressing.

PM me if you ever need to talk. You'll find lots of support here!
