I am looking for support with this. I was diagnosed with a 'spinal infection' and nerve inflammation. This is honestly one of the most painful things I've ever dealt with.
I was told the rheumatoid arthritis can cause this to happen. I was given steroids and a higher dose of neurontin and of course, pain meds. I may have iv antibiotics if this doesn't clear it out or relieve the symptoms.
Has anyone else here had /or have this? The neurologist gave it a name, but I can't think of it. I have some disk degeneration and scoliosis, which is painful. But, this pain has been awful.
Like Prettyday said.."suck your thumb, contemplate tall buildings" type of pain.
I guess I'm looking for more insight into the diagnosis.
TIA for any answers or help!

Before they invented drawing boards, what did they go back to?
Giving steroids sans antibiotics to someone with spinal infection????? Since steroids will further DEPRESS your own immune system, the infection will have more of an opportunity to take over....sounds like either they don't believe you have a true infection or their nuts! How did they determine you have an infection....did they do a lumbar puncture & C & S?
I have had Viral Meningitis, which is an inflammation/infection of the membranes surrounding the brain and spine. When they did a lumbar puncture the fluid came out cloudy which is very bad.

I'm so sorry Christy. Yikes. I don't know anything about such things. Have you got a second opinion? They say it never hurts and IMSUSCOT1 is pretty sharp so you might want to think about talking to another doctor. It sounds very painful. Please stay away from tall buildings.
just a thought..... dont know if im wasting your time.... but, have they ruled a pilanoidal cyst/abcess?? I suffer from that, and it took 4 dr's to figure that out, dont know if they were all incompitent or what, but its just an idea... it causes fever, lots of pain and discharge at the lower spinal area... just an idea.
