Hello! I'd like to give the IOP thing a spin but have no idea what to order. I've looked at ALL the sites and now I'm just more confused. Every one seems to have different product names, bottle counts, mg combinations, rules for ordering and lions and tigers and bears -- oh my! Currently, I take 10/325's, muscle relaxants & anti-inflamatories for my 5 year-old injury. What should I get? PM or Post is fine. I am the same name on the VIP Board as well. I know many of you are like a walking PDR and I need your expertise! I PM'd someone that posts prolifically on the VIP board but have not heard back from her. Heart-felt thanks in advance,
Vic

The thing about IOP's is, there is no hydro over there.
The best you can do is Codeine, which is pretty easy to obtain from IOP's, both as Tylenol 3 and 4 and alone as Codeiene Phosphate and Codeine Sulphate, usually in 30mg tabs (Codeisan) or 60mg extended release caps or tabs (Perduretas). Unfortunately, codeine is pretty lame if you are used to hydro, and you bring your 5-year-old hydro tolerance with you when you switch to codeine. And you can't just take more codeine, the max effective dose is 400mg, more than that you just digest it.
You will see hydro and oxy and even morphine offered at various IOP's, including a couple of Mexican ones, at outrageous prices. I have never seen anybody post that they actually received OC or hydro or morphine from an IOP.
I have no experience with muscle relaxers.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Spud! Your post was most informative. It is hard to believe that the relief I'm getting now is the "best there is" (because on so many days..it's just ISN'T). And I'm not really interested in oxy-anything. I was just looking for something comprable, at the very least, to the pain therapy I'm doing now. I also expected to save money. I guess if we're looking for a cheap, magical elixir on the IOP level, there simply isn't one. Ignorance really is bliss, by the way. If anyone else has any more feedback, I'd appreciate it kindly. You guys are the best. ~ Vic

That's the paradox, we have the best pain meds in the USA, but the doctors are afraid to prescribe them. You can get codeine OTC in most of the rest of the civilized world, so why not here? Who knows.
Good luck!

Studies show that dihydrocodeine, available through many European pharmacies, offers at least 1.5 times the amount of analgesia that codeine does. Some people don't recognize this, because "DHC" does not cloud your head like codeine or the rest of our US opiate painkillers. But I can vouch for its ability to kill the pain. THe most common form is the Contugeisc 60, which is a continuous release tablet of 60mg, althought the binders interfere with digestion and you only atually het a little under 50 mg. I believe the suggested dosage (providing you swallow them whole) is 1-2 tablet every 12 hours, but with your tolerance, you may find you need twice that to do the trick. Equivalencies between DHC and Codeine/Hydro are tricky- there have been a million threads on them and nobody seems to have come up with an answer.
Contugesic is also available in 90 and 120 mg tablets, so if you find and IOP that sells the 60mg version, write to see whether they can suuply the higher-potency, as well.
Another solution, certainly as strong as hydro, is buphrenorphine, These typical come in sublingul tablets of 200mcg. Also known as Temgesic (the most common brand), you will hear a lot about them around here. Easiest to get ahold of in Asia.
