A lot of members and lurkers are usually surfing the threads for information and sometimes just leave the chat open in a different window so that they can periodically check back and see if anyone is in there to talk to. I do wish chat was more popular among the member's, but just remember...when you *are* in chat to speek up and remember not to be shy. All of us have pretty much the same goal here so we all have one thing or another in common...there is always more to say than "Hi, How's it goin"...but if you cannot think of anything more...that's a start...im sure there will be a conversation just waiting to happen if you take the first step. All users that I have come acrost on DB are very polite and respectful, also they are very attentive to your needs.

Yah it's just people "idling", don't take offense at all.
I've not been in the DB chat but I used to be addicted to IRC, land of idlers.
I've been pondering an irc server for DB'ers actually..... with integrated SSL for privacy....
I'd absolutely LOVE to talk to you in irc sometime. Let me know and we can set up a time and make our own room! I haven't been on in a while myself.......I spend too much time doing nothing there. Nothing but gossip mostly.
I can't get into chat because of our danged firewall and I'm too lazy to ask hubby to open up the port for me.
