I was quite surprised to find a compassionate article in the latest Readers Digest, which to me, usually publishes extremely conservative reviews. Not only does it present some stories that well could be written people I've talked to here on db, but it also shares some important facts about pain that even most doctors are unaware of. First, it talks about how pain nerves, used to firing caused by injury or illness, become "programmed" to continue firing even after the underlying condition is treated. Also, it talks about the links between chronic pain, depression and anxiety. DB'ers could write volumes about this link.
Finally, there are a couple of important internet links listed. First, a link to the American Board of Pain Medicine (abpm.org) that lists board-certified doctors qualified to treat pain. Plus, I would encourage everyone here who suffers from chronic pain to go to Readers Digest and post in their forum for this article: rd.com/pain relief.
I wish everyone good luck and pain-free lives.

Interesting Daddyj, thanks for posting. I went to their website and there were actually several good articles on pain. I'll go ahead and post the Link here so everybody can check it out. I think posting in that forum is a great idea.
