I'm one of those who can eat anything & everything and not gain a pound. However, my best friend is constantly battling her weight and is about ready to try OPs for the first time. Any suggestions for the best prescription diet pills? and the best site/price for such pills?
Thanks for any help.

At one point in my life I needed to lose weight and I did use diet pills. I found phentermine to be very very effective.
Of course, this is only my personal experience. They completely killed my appetite (good) and totally drained my wallet (bad).
However, it really is very goood in the energy department.
Good as a short term usage for weight loss. Just my two cents. I am NOT a physician, nurse, just someone who once lost 30 pounds on the stuff.

Hi, How long did it take you to lose 30lbs? I Just started taking Phentermine this week. I have to break the pills in half, because I feel horrible if I take a whole pill. Thanks for your info.

Janet, It would really depend on how much weight your friend
needs to lose- Is she just 40 lbs. or less overweight or is she extremely obese? If it's her goal to lose 40 or less pounds then I too would suggest Phentermine(Adipex-brand name) 37.5mg, as I too lost 14 lbs. during the first month that I took it(many years ago) and I continued to take it for 2 more months and did lose weight with it, although it did seem to lose it's effectiveness(rapid tolerance) after a few months. Anyway if this is an option for her the best price I know of is at [url=www.favoriterx.com]web page, but there are so many out there she may find a better one, if she has the time to go through all of them, and I'm not sure if she would want generic or brand as there is a steep difference in the price on most of the sites I've seen. I know of a few others that are reputable and priced cheaper than alot of others if you would like them just PM me and I'll be glad to gather them and list them for you (including the prices for those that I have). On the other hand, for extreme obesity I have heard many positive things regarding the med. Meridia but it is really expensive from what I've seen. So, basically it all depends on how much weight loss she is aiming for, the amount of money she can spend, and if she has taken any other anorexics in the past and what results she had with any previous meds. Like I said feel free to PM me to exchange more info.
Peace and Pain Free-my eternal wish for all

Taking phentermine without having a physical exam and an EKG is not wise! You can have any number of otherwise benign abherrant heart rhythms that you wouldn't even be aware of, but could become life threatening when taking phentermine. You can have stroke cause by seriously increased blood pressure, seizures...... just to name a few possible and COMMON side effects.
If you took the drug & felt unwell, you should STOP the drug, get a good physical exam, tell the doctor you plan to take it and make sure your an appropriate candidate.
It's not like taking a vitamin...or even like taking hydro...this drug has some serious side effects.

Wow JS. You can really eat anything and as much as you want without gaining weight? I've heard individuals like you exist but I have never met one personally. I have had a weight problem all my life, and I doubt there is a diet, program, therapy, or substance, legal or illegal that I haven't tried to reduce the excess flesh.
Do you exercise alot or are you very active daily? Are you "naturally" un-hungry? I would be interested in any ideas you may have as to how you can eat enough to be satisfied without putting on pounds, whereas so many cannot.

Just my .02, I think JS just lucked out in the genes department. I have known several people in my lifetime that said they had "trouble keeping weight on." They seemed to eat at least average or greater than average amounts & were just blessed with a high metabolism. Sadly, I, on the other hand, have always gained weight easily. Of course, if there is ever a famine in America, we "larger people" will have the last laugh. It doesn't take very many calories to keep us alive & well!

Thank you all SO much for your help! I'll certainly pass all your helpful comments along to my friend. She's a shorty, like me, but is getting roundish. I'm guessing she would like to drop around 30 lb. I think she's beautiful just the way she is -- guess none of us "women-types" are ever happy with our looks.
And Jewel, I have no super-secret to keeping my weight down. Actually I don't exercise AT ALL, but know I should for health reasons cuz I sit all day at my job.
I've always said "my husband lives to eat, and I eat to live". I simply do not enjoy food -- I would love to truly enjoy food the way most folks do. I would rather be a tad overweight and love to eat rather than battle with the chore of choking down food.
I'm a "recovering anorexic". I don't get sick anymore but I have to make a conscious effort to remember to eat. I try to nibble bits of food all day to keep the stomach acid down. If I don't do this, I can't keep food down.
You larger women are beautiful! Do you realize that? Because I'm not a healthy eater, I look gaunt and sickly in color and seem to catch every "bug" that comes along.
Anyway, thanks again for all your suggestions here.

I find as I age, it gets harder and harder to keep my weight within its' normal range. And I really don't love eating.
I find it funny people being classified as a fruit, i.e. pear, apple, etc. I'm definitely an apple and that does NOT sit right when gaining weight. I gain it all in my mid-section, so just an extra 5 lbs. can be VERY apparant. Being short doesn't help my cause, either.
I will say that working out is one of the best things in regard to keeping my depression down to a very manageable level, and does keep me at my size, although it's becoming harder and harder to do so. High impact aerobics isn't the greatest idea when you have an injury like I do, so I've worn a weight belt (don't know if it's a good or bad idea) when workin ou. Can't seem to give that idea up.
Exercising gives me a major rush, it's VERY addictive.
Now, someone PLEASE get rid of that halloween candy!!
P.S. IMSUSCOTI had some excellent advice, please read that post.

I also had very good luck with phentermine years ago. The thing is I could only take the capsules, not the actual pills. I think the ones in pill for are actually called adipex. I could not take those. Hope this helps

Thank you for your honesty regarding anorexia and related health problems. I think your courage and candor helps pretty much everyone in some way, who is drawn to this thread. I've never known a soul in my life who in not concerned to some degree with body image or weight issues.
I'm also touched by your compassion towards others with weight anxieties when you wrote "Large women are beautiful" and "do you realize that?".
Well Janet, you are beautiful and I hope you realize that.

Oh my goodness - It's taken me a day or two to clear my tears and acknowledge your post, TiredBones. You, using my words "back at me", was extremely touching. Actually, you've changed my life.
I'm not, NOT, going to live by the scales anymore. Where before I would freak at gaining a lb. or two and starve myself for a few days, I'm not even going to weigh myself. I'm just going to try to eat regularly, eat healthy, and take care of myself.
In all my years of posting on boards, this board has the most compassionate members of them all. You, my sweet lil friends, mean so much to me.
NOW, LADIES (and gentleman) -- Stay OFF the scales and just be healthy, okay. I'm challenging under-eaters and over-eaters alike.
THIS is a beautiful day!
