If you order meds from an IOP, do they use to send any exp dates on the meds?
i have recieved meds from pharm88, accessmeds, clickdrugstore and joseph, but never include any exp-dates on medicines.

The exp dates that pharmacies print on the prescription label are completely bogus, they just automatically print the date that is exactly one year from the date of the script. The only reliable exp date for a supply of medication is the one on the original packaging -- some OPs ship meds in the factory bottles, and whenever I've gotten them the exp date has been approximately 2 years away.
If you are getting blister-packed meds, the date should be stamped on the package -- if it is not, I would have to question the legitimacy of the manufacturer -- no legitimate mfr would package meds w/out an exp date.

I think many IOPs remove the meds from the original packaging for expedience. It is easier to get the meds through customs?
The only way to know is to take the med and see if you find it effective.
The IOPS you mentioned are reputable AFAIK.

Well, no, not exactly.
There is an expiration date on the bottle for the prescription, which means that no refills can be made after that expiration date (one year from the original fill.) There will be another date on the bottle, and that is the expiration date of the actual drug itself. So if your meds come in a prescription bottle there should be two dates on the label.

If I get an RX locally, it has a "use before date" which is approx a year from the date the RX was dispensed.
This has nothing to do with refills.
The only way that I know of to have another expiration date on a dispensed medication is if it comes in a factory sealed bottle.

That date doesn't mean anything for most drugs, most drugs are good for long after that exp date is up, especially opiates.

Agreed! With proper storage, meds can last a long time.

This must be what the original poster is experiencing -- I can't imagine how else meds could be packaged without an exp date.
I do pay attention to exp dates -- although meds can retain most of their potency beyond the exp date if they are stored properly, negative effects are also possible. A few months ago I got a supply of tramadol from Masters Marketing that was nearly expired, and they were absolutely worthless. Not only did the caps have no effectiveness, they caused me to feel terrible, and very strangely, I got stomach pain, and pain in my kidneys from them. I had another supply at the time that I had received from HCP, and I carefully compared the two by switching back and forth, and I was not imagining the difference -- I ended up discarding the MM supply, something I would absolutely never do without being absolutely sure that the problem was real. I can only conclude that the problem with that supply was related in some way to the age of the meds, although it is possible that the quality of the manufacturer was simply inferior to begin with -- I can't remember the mfr name -- they were solid white 10 count blister packs.

The only real ability to show a meds age is if it is in a blister, or sealed container. The problem with unsealed meds is that humidity, heat, and light have a neative effect on the meds(almost most meds).
