Did anyone ever have the UPS guy come in a regular car dressed in a suit like he was going somewhere. And I think the only package he had in his car was mine

Do you care to share where the order came from? That is quite odd, perhaps for the sanctity of your soul you should call UPS and perhaps there's a logical explanation. Also to answer your question, no....that has never happened to me. I sure hope that all is well!

Was it during normal delivery hours? Did he identify himself as UPS?

Could it have been a neighbor who was accidentally delivered your package?

Maybe the regular delivery man was unable to deliver your package and a supervisor had to deliver it on his way home from work because it had a guaranteed delivery time.

It was supposed to be delivered by 10:30. I tried to call and they are closed till Mon. at 7. I checked the tracking and it was picked up in Girard which is the normal place where it is picked up. I asked him where his truck was and I can't quite remember what he said, something about he had to do something. I also mentioned where was his brown uniform and he said something else but I can't remember what he said. It definitely wasn't a neighbor. I don't know, maybe he had someplace to go and this was his last delivery, or maybe I'm in trouble. God have mercy on me.

I doubt you’re in trouble. It was from a US OP and ordering meds online is not against the law. A licensed Dr and pharmacy are sending them to you. If there was a problem it would be with them not you.

For arguments sake, say you broke the law and they were coming for you, you wouldn’t get the script. You would get 1 pill (so they could charge you with possession) and a bunch of paper clips in the bottle. They probably would have already kicked down your door.

Haven’t you ever watched cops?

No worries. There has to be a rational explanation.

Sounds to me it was a controlled delivery. But Usually when it was a controlled delivery its not that obvious. Usually a "suit" will dress the part of the UPS guy.

I believe if it were a controlled delivery, Grandma would have been arrested after her signature.
And there would have been more people involved, in uniform with guns.

Just a guess.

I *think* it means that there is cause for law enforcement to believe you are receiving illegal substances/contraband.

They have a warrant. After you accept the package you are in trouble. Trouble is an understatement.

I'm not the person best suited to answer your question in detail or with accuracy.

gee, i didn't think it was illegal or contraband. doesn't that stuff come from IOP's and come through the mail? I'm so confused about this. Gee, I read so many posts where lots of people sign for packages for other people at their places of work. Does that mean they are in trouble?

They use UPS. I told myself I would never use anything except FEDEX, but I didn't listen to myself. This definitely wasn't the same UPS man who comes during the week. I'm guessing this was their weekend guy. I know that our FEDEX has a man during the week and a lady on weekends. The meds are the same as what everyone else orders hydro 10/325. Nothing was any different. I'm racking my brain trying to think what was different. On the VIP board someone mentioned that this happened twice to her, but it was FEDEX and not UPS. She said that the FEDEX guy came in his own car and was dressed in regular clothes. As a matter of fact this is what she said: ""Yep! It's happened twice now, except it was FedEx. VERY strange, he told me FedEx contracted him because they were overwhelmed that day. The package was trackable on the FedEx website and he had a standard FedEx clipboard with dozens of signatures, but it still freaked me out. Has anyone else have this odd experience?"" My package was trackable too and he had a standard UPS clipboard (but I didn't notice if there were other signatures on it).

Nah you're not in trouble, I'd forget about it totally. If it came from SWMG it's under the same scrutiny as the tens of thousands from other OP's per month. If they decided to make an example of the definition of "doctor/patient relationship" or your state law itself, they would not have sent a plainclothes WITH a UPS clipboard. I would bet a year's pay that really was a UPS employee, a shift manager or dock supervisor or somesuch; if not a weekend driver leaving work. I'd breathe easy if I were you, when they want to make an example it won't be through you; it'd be more like paper-based threats via the records of an arrested doctor; even then, I doubt they'll harass those with solid records on file or able to present.

Rest easy

I have 11 years experience working for UPS (which explains my chronic pain) I can tell you if it was a next day air or even 2nd day, if the package is left in the hub and was suppose to go out,it is not uncommon for a manager to grab it maybe on his way home, and make the delivery since they get their butts in a sling if packages are missed. I've seen it happen many times. Even more frequently around the holidays. Hope this helps.

BTW I also worked in Loss Prevention my last few years there and I can tell you if a package is to be delivered, and an arrest made the police go along with the driver, the package is delivered, and the police swoop in. We had a pkg of 75 lbs of pot delivered and thats how it works. Also had a driver who was changing the addresses on the packages and delivering them to his friends and writing Merry Christmas on the boxes. Nice way to get your Christmas shopping out of the way huh?

I had a friend that worked for a local courier service. They had a contract with FedEx (not sure about UPS) that if they weren't going to make a guaranteed delivery, they passed it on to this courier company. It was, needless to say, one of their best accounts. They made great money on that contract. This has been a few years though. I wouldn't worry about it either, just my .02 worth.

I also had a UPS supervisor deliver to me in plain clothes. My shipment was late, was supposed to be there by 10:30. They rescheduled for the next day. I called UPS and told them no way. The guy showed up in plain clothes in an SUV. He told me he was the supervisor and was getting this to me on his way home.
No biggie. stop worrying.

Well since we have some UPS folks online here, I've got to tell you that something is rotten in your delivery shop regarding orders from OPs. The 2nd day air package I received from National Scripts came with a hole torn in the air pack, and light 46 out of 90 10/325s. I notified NS AND UPS immediately. NS made good on the pills, but the UPS rep. asked the contents and I told him "prescription medication". His tone was like he had heard this several times before and then he asked me to hang on to the air pack because an inspector would want to look at it. Between that incident, and what else I am reading regarding delivery drivers, I think they have notes made on recognized packages from OPs and are into a bit of drug-napping. I hope UPS gets a handle on this situation. Can't speak for FEDEX because I've never had meds napped from any of those packages.

I've been opening my deliveries from Woody in front of the delivery man since I saw the convincing posts regarding lost/substituted meds...... It's all legal and only takes a second, worth consideration IMO

Sorry this had to happen and make you nervous. It probably would have made me nervous as well, although I've become somewhat ambivalent toward my deliveries as of late.

What I WOULDN'T do would be to open my packages in front of my delivery guy. I just find the contents of my package personal, private and even if there were missing meds, he could have said it happened en route or at the hub (although the proceedings for re-imbursement would not take as long I would imagine). But since I've never had that problem, I would rather keep the contents private. Not only that, I just think it's as if you're looking for something that in a small percentile of cases wouldn't happen. Now if I can tell there is a huge rip in my package, I would most likely look in there quickly before he left to see if all was okay.

I like my delivery guy a lot, he's a real cool guy (actually a friend of a friend) and we have a great repoire. I think all delivery guys should be so cool. And all deliveries so worry-free.

BTW, LOL Henry! My guy was dressed as the Queen of Hearts, and we played hopscotch and aferward, chess on a big board, sizable for humans (I used my hubby and neighbors for figures).

Corrie

You aren't in trouble, and you did not have a controlled delivery. I was just pointing out that more people are involved when one happens and that you'd most likely be arrested on the spot.
You had a legit prescription.
As others have stated UPS was probably just trying to get your parcel to you ASAP.

You know it sucks that your UPS delivery driver probably went out of his way to make sure you got your package on the day you were supposed to get it and his good intentions are immediately suspect. If you're not doing something wrong then there is no reason to fear a UPS delivery. Next time you see him you should thank him

Pescardo1,

I'm sorry I have offended you. You are right, I did suspect something was wrong, even though I knew that I didn't do anything wrong. I don't know what to say to you. It's just that this is such a gray area, we're not too sure.

I want to thank all those who have responded and gave me reassurance that all was ok. I want to thank those who gave me some ideas about what and why it happened. You helped ease my mind.

I'm still uneasy. I guess I'm just the kind of person who is always afraid they have done something wrong, even though they didn't.

WELL!!!!! Guess what, I just got a phone call from the main UPS office. They explained what happened. It was the supervisor and they were kind enough to make sure it got there when they promised. She apologized if they caused any inconvenience. She was a real sweetie and I apologized to her for being suspicious.

Again! You are a great group of supportive people. I don't know you, and I don't post much, but I consider all of you my friend. (I will post this also on the VIP board so they will see it also)

grandma (3 wonderful grandkids - 14, 10, 7)

PS, Pescardo1, I did tell her to thank him for his kindness.
