I have 3 orders I've been waiting for from 3 int'l OPs that are late. They are from 3 different places that are usually very reliable and much faster. I am very worried because supposedly in the Oct. 18, 2003 issue of the NY Times there was a big article on something called "Operation Gray Lord," wherein the government is finally cracking down on overseas pharmacies AND their clients. I'm pretty much a shaking nervous wreck. Not only am I scared those pain pills I rely on so heavily will not come, but that the feds will come knocking on my door any day. If anyone else out there can relate to this, I'd really appreciate feedback - thanks.

I missed that Times article, squirrelgirl, and you can only get access online to stories from past days if you subscribe to their archives (I think that's how it works).
Could someone post the text to that article, or a link if there is one? Thanks.
Boy, I hope your orders show up soon. This is the first I've heard of Operation Gray Lord. I'm not currently waiting on any IOP orders, and I guess I'll hold off on ordering now. Keep us posted!

I did not read the article but I did get wind of it. I have pretty much stopped using international places since the heightened security started. I think the seizure potential is not worth the risk, until that changes I will stay pretty much in the domestic area.
The conditions in customs are probably still pretty much the same. I don't think they will check every little thing. Maybe the security levels are holding up your meds. It seems to take longer than it used to I gather by reading the boards.

PB99 - Black Cat transcribed the article under the "Laws, Regulations and Enforcement" section with the heading "DEA & FDA shutting down OPs NYT art 10/18." His post was dated 10/26/03 so you can refer to this, as I think he posted most of the article. It certainly scared the daylights out of me.

I have had only occasional problems with orders (maybe one lost per year). However, since August i lost an order from Thailand and received an *FDA* seizure notice for the first time. The (half-price) reship was inspected but they did not find anything inside. Then, despite having received Milid (proglumide) from Pakistan at least five times (since 9/11/01) with no inspection, my latest order never arrived, but because i've been a long-term customer they gave me the choice of a free reship or a refund. Because of the apparent crackdown, i chose the refund. Because these orders entered the U.S. at different locations and there were problems with my only two recent orders, it seems that the risk of seizures has gone up. You can't have high statistical confidence when N=3, but losing two packages from three shipments is a 67% loss rate. Also, ManyMeds told me that they are experiencing a high loss rate.

Bo Dietl on the Fox news broadcast I watched last night was talking about how iop's could be used by terrorists and he specifically mentioned Pakistan.
I have placed 4 overseas orders, 2 in Thailand and 2 in India since Sept. 15. All were delivered. But I do wonder if that is going to be the exception now.

I read the article and didn't see anything in it to worry about. Its not possible to inspect everything. Its much easier to put the idea out that they have some secret plan to stop the shipments from getting in. The USA has no power over the Foreign OPs. If they can make people believe that they will stop everything before it gets here, then fewer people will order, and that equals fewer drugs getting in. I believe that is their secret plan. If you have to use the Foreign OPs I would order in small amounts. I understand this will cost more but for obvious reasons this will increase the chances that customs will not inspect the package, and even if they do it will be obvious its not being brought into the country to be resold. Its always about money, and that is something that will never change.

I thought it strange the emphasis seemed to be targeted towards Narcotics, so I guess I got nothin to worry about except that order of N+, if you call that a narcotic.

I've received 2 in the past week. I'm having space limitation problems. I was starting to worry a bit, but when it rains, it pours.
This sort of thing was happening in late March-early April. You were the one who started the "Abducted and Missing Meds" support thread, squirrelgirl. I had packages out for 7 weeks, even a reship initiated, and then all of the sudden I got about 5 shipment in the space of about 10 days, from 3 different continents.
I'm going to try to be optimistic and propose that Trampy got really unlucky. You could say the opposite about me, I guess, but one would have to wonder why the universe would choose to bless me with the ability to receive international mail in place of taking everything else from me.
OT: Wow. This is the only time I've ever even been able to feign disagreement with Trampy.

Well, today one of the orders arrived so I was very relieved. This New York Times article got me very panicked. Still, the two remaining orders are quite late but I'm just grateful one of them showed up. There is still hope!

My orders have also been taking a long time.
Could it be due to the recent postal strikes in England?

I am glad things are arriving for you. I would not be too worried. You have to remember the sheer volume of parcels and lack of manpower to check each and every thing.
