i called my local [nation wide chain] pharmacy asked if they could refill my out of state prescription of diazepam and what were the requirments? he said the empty bottle would be fine. i didnt mention its from an op. will they refill? how about hydro? insurance? i live in a small burg with two pharmacies, oh yeah iam in nevada on the border of utah. any help would be great, thanx
They will most certainly have to contact the pharmacy (do they answer the phone?) and there may be a "doctor directive" or something that the script cannot be transferred, even if your state allows it.
This just isn't done, but I suppose it's worth a try as long as you're willing to risk this getting back to your DR, and i would NOT use insurance.
I would definitely not do this. The OP's we use have in-house pharmacies for a reason, and if you try to refill your prescription out of their 'bounds' so to speak, you are not only bringing unwanted attention to that OP, but also to the pharmacy.
Your insurance would not cover it, and the pharmacy that you are trying to get your OP prescription filled at would most definitely contact your doctor, last pharmacy (OP), etc., and then would determine that there was no doctor/patient relationship in the manner that you didn't speak to him face to face, so this would constitute opening up a can of worms best left closed. If we could all fill our refills at the local CVS down the street and use our insurance, I'm sure we'd all be doing it instead of the way it's done. I find myself very lucky to have found OP's that will write prescriptions for my pain and anxiety....'nuff said.
On another note, I've heard Nevada is really cracking down on OP's.
Corrie, is correct and Nevada law would make you a criminal if you refilled a script written by a doc that you did not have a face to face patient/doctor relationship with. I *think* the pharmacy filling the script would also be committing a crime.
This is of course dependant on proof that you never saw the rx-ing doc.
