CBS News Sunday morning had another wonderful report on the problems with HIGH US prices for US medications.
I'm sorry I looked on their site for more info but could not find a link, maybe someone a bit more computer literate could find it. Anyway..
The story talked about how for many years buses have traveled to Canada to buy perscription meds at half or one third the cost of US prices(due to Canadian price caps). They also discussed how some (no names mentioned) US pharmacutical companys were cutting off supply of products to boarder pharmacys that engage in supplying Americans cheeper drugs. SHAME SHAME SHAME on you, you all so caring and empathetic pharm corps!!
The story also discussed the recent increase in places like RX-Depot and Canadian RX(a company in my state that had to recently shut it doors because of legal fees), They talked with the owner of Rx-Depot and questioned him about the FDAs accuzations that drugs from Canada can be dangerous. I love it he laughed, and said when have they ever been dangerous. Not to mention that the US exports a great deal of Canada's meds, hmmm maybe we really do want to get ride of those pesky Canadians.
The program also focused on some US/CAN boarder town, where the mayor was trying to import medications for city employes to lower fiscal cost, and save tax money. (Sorry I cant remember the city, but you go mayor!!!KUDOS!!)
All in all a wonderful story on "The War On Drugs"
Hope everyone got a chance to see it, and I hope we see more poitive perspectives on the fleecing of the poor, sick, elderly, middleclass, and handicaped.

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind.... And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded with patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader, and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar." - William Shakespeare
Could have been written today. Pretty scary.

Pretty scary, indeed.
I did catch part of this show this morning. One of the reassuring things was that there was a lawmaker (Senator or Governor somebody-or-other) who was firmly in support of US Citizen's rights to purchase prescription meds in Canada. A voice of reason where we need one!

Thanks Oreo...
Im still very pissed that these mOnster pharmacutical companys are trying to cut off supply of meds to legit Canadian pharmacys, who are helping out the underpaid, and underinsured Americans.
Just think of all the extra revenu this country would have if pharmacutical companys and politics were diffrent, maybe people would have money to invest in the economy and ease this recession. Well I guess everyone except Pharm executives and lawmakers would have extra money(those ball washing bastards).
