Ultracet to help with hydro holiday?
      #108152 - 10/17/03 10:15 AM

I am planning to take a break from hydro and was wondering if this Ultracet I have would help with w/d symptoms. I don't really know much about it...is it anything like Ultram? Actually I haven't picked it up from the pharmacy yet and it is pretty expensive so need to know if it is worth getting or not? Thanks for your help!

it will help with your pain not WD.

the best you can do for WD is try to sleep it off with some benzos

Ultracet is like Ultram. It has less tramadol than Ultram and it is mixed with APAP. Some people have used tramadol for W/D with good results. The problem is that tramadol is apparently as hard (if not harder) than hydro to come off of. It is expensive. If it helps you then you might check out the IOP's to order plain tramadol from. It is much cheaper. MastersMarketing and Clickdrugstore both are reliable and reasonable.
I hope this helps you. Good Luck!

A friend of mine had some and didn't do much good. Also I looked it up on Drugs.com and there was some inf. on ultracet that you may want to read. Its something about do not take it if you are in withdrawls from other drugs or alcahol

I think that is due to the fact that withdrawal from some drugs may result in a seizure and tramadol lowers the seizure threshold.

That may be true? I didn't know for sure about it so thats why I recommended looking it up on Drugs.com. That way they can read all the precations about ultracet. After taking hydo then you take a holiday nothing else is going to give you the relief that hydo did. Which you might take to much of something else to get the same relief. Just wanted them to look into the precautions to be more informed. You can't be to carefull when it comes to diferent drugs.

In my experience, Tramadol really helps with w/d's from hydro or oxy. It is a fact, though, that once you get used to taking it long term, it has it's own excruciating w/d's. Be careful with it.
