Ok, so since I am a bit spooked by the fact that my liver could get damaged so I was recomended milk thistle capsules if I am going to be taking tylenol/codeine and having a few drinks.
I know, its not a total solution but as I said in my earlier post, I don't take the tylenol that often (3-4) times per week at most, but I do have a few beers each night (and that aint gonna stop) so I am going to try this and give my liver a little help. The tylenol/codeine I take has only 300mg of APAP so I am hoping that is not a lot and I never take more than 1 in a day.
Anyone ever try the milk thistle ?

Ouch! Beer and Tylenol! That hurts. Well you don't need to hear that from me. And you asked a good question.
I have a friend with hep-C who takes Milk thistle religiously, and her liver function has stayed pretty steady, which she credits to the restorative properties of the Milk Thistle.
I'd also be curious to know if it's considered effective in the situation you're describing, mixing alcohol and tylenol.
thanks potatoboy. Thanks for the info on the milk thistle, I am getting some tonight.
As I said before, my tylenol intake is only 300mg's (as the tylenol with codiene I have has 30/300) and only once in a day. I may be wrong but that doesn't seam like a lot considering what major Chronic Pain patients have to take but they probably don't consume alcohol either.
I did some research on yahoo and found an article that suggested that if someone is a drinker (2 or more drinks a day) then they should limit themselves to one tylenol a day and that was a 500mg tylenol with codene. I guess I'm just trying to convince myself that my liver will not be damaged to much by all this. Hopefully the milk thistle will help.

here is the link that said if you consume 2 or more drinks a day then you should limit yourself to 2 grams of APAP. They do also say it is not good but that statement about limiting the tylenol intake is what made me feel a little safer about it, I still know its not the best. Check out the article.
