Well I know of Butorphanol tartrate (Stadol) it comes injection ready and in a nasal spray, I would imagine there is a pill somewhere but I've yet to see it, I only have experience with the nasal spray and a most unfortunate injection. (I just hated it but I know people who do fine with it, even enjoy it [gasp] .)

Stadol is an opioid agonist and antagonist, so it works but the antagonist can cause problems in some people, especially if you are already opiate dependent, brings on psuedo withdrawal symptoms really.

Nubain is also another synthetic opiate agonist/antagonist and is pretty similar to Stadol, maybe a little less strange feeling I guess I can say.

I know nothing of Veterinarian grade forms of these medications, my personal experience is limited as well.

Hope that helps though.

well...

torb is OK...personally I prefer nubain, but when prices went up last year, it was time to look at other agonist/antagonists.

The best way I can describe it is to say that torb will 'go to your head' a little bit more than bain does. I dont like it as much. You may feel a little more disassociated, where bain will allow you to function/think a whole lot better.

Also, consider the fact that bain isnt scheduled and torb is Sched4 (I think...maybe C5)

50cc torb was a good deal when you can get it at a farmacia at $180 or so. Now that I see it go for $300-400, forget it. Not worth it.

I think the price of bain will drop over the next 6 months or so as more companies step in to manufacture it to fill the void left when Astra stopped making it. Abbott is still around as well as dupont...and the occasional off brand here and there in south america and europe.
