      #107103 - 10/12/03 09:30 PM

I heard a story from a family member that there was a guy on the "Geraldo Rivera Show" saying he was going to put together a comity to go before the sentate or whatever to pass a bill baning online doctors from prescribing prescription pain kilers. Does anyone else have information on this...

Even if some comiittee did try to pass lesgisltion, it wuold take a year or longer. And even longer if the Ops donated momey to their PACs. And, if this is true, we should find out which senator or congressman and write him/her a bunch of letters, e-mails. etc.

Ouch, don't be so specific next time! Just kidding..

Don't count on that happening anytme soon. Before any laws like that change, they will have to deal with the AARP and a multitude of other groups looking out for the interests of senior citizens and their right to medical alternatives... And they don't want the laws changed to make it harder to get meds.

Face it! We are headed to Socialized Medicine and anyone can get a doctorate in medicine. Government wants to control everything we do. The US will be gone in 50 years. Where is 1880?

Real socialized medicine would be a big improvement over our current system of corporate state socialized medicine; aka socialism for the rich and free enterprise for the poor - where our main social safety network is a prison cell (if you're poor).

The freedom of the 1880's frontier is disappearing and I for one detest it. But, the current system of repugocrat ostrich politics will begin to disintegrate as the baby boomers start to retire around 2010 and they discover that there is no money for medicare, let alone social security. The revolutionary zeal of the 60's, if not its Marcusian mish-mash ideology will, as you say, eliminate the USA, as we currently know it. Not sure what will replace it, other than all of you guys younger than the baby boomers can count on paying for it... through the nose.

Beleive me...my wife and I are saving with the notion that there will be NO Social Security, NO Medicare, and NO Medicaid by the time we retire. I sure hope there are many others with the same mindset. And by the way Plot, I can accept the term "repugocrat"...it definitely conveys your contempt for the Republicans while at the same time lumping the Democrats in with the same crowd. Nice touch.
