john,
I'm not a doctor, but common sense tells me that this is a strong probability. Perhaps you could taper off the vicoden?? Like take a half tab for a few days when you feel the chills, etc., in addition to the Oxy?? I would cut the Oxy dosage temporarily as well, don't know a lot about Oxy. I guess my suggestion, and it is JMVHO here, is to make the "switch" gradually.

I don't know if your doctor knew how much Vicodin you were taking? When switching pain meds they are supposed to match your equivalent dose. How many mg of hydrocodone are you talking about versus how much oxycodone gave you withdrawal?

Oxycodone is a much more powerful pain med than hydrocodone. Unless you were taking large amounts of Vicodin the same dosage of oxy as hydro should not be causing any problems. I have personal experience with this and I had no problem with switching from hydro to oxycodone in fact I even lessend the dose,

As yawkaw said, it is difficult to know if withdrawals are the cause of your symptoms without knowing the amount of hydro you were taking vs the amount of oxy you are taking.

You also did not mention whether it is OxyContin or IR.
Some people get better relief from hydro, and OC can take a couple days to adapt to.
Good luck -intrepid
