Once again, I would have to have all the facts in front of me, but yeah, this does not look good!

I listened to Rush's radio program today - he did not deny the charges and said he wouldn't talk about it today but "once he had all the facts" he would talk about it and as he put it "you will all learn more than you wanted to know." I've always enjoyed his show - sounds like it's going to get verryyy interesting!

Rush's problem is one of those events, which brings me back into touch with America. Living in SF area, I don't know anyone, who listens to Rush or believes Bush. I feel almost as thought I'm from another... well... universe. Please don't interpret this to be arrogant, though I certainly am, but Americans, myself included, have little idea how vast this country is and how totally different the regional social/political assumptions are.

I thought it was only our local news that seemed way too eager to play video footage of a pharmacist playing around
with Oxycontin pills while reading something extremely long about something having nothing to DO with oxycontin pills.
Hydro AIN'T oxy, but anything to get that stupid SHOCKING (gasp!) footage on the air...the whole "oxy is satan" media fury makes me want to throw up. And now having oxy footage shown with some snip about 'allegations' against Rush Limbaugh that basically said that they didn't HAVE any info about it - and if they didn't, then why was it SO worth them playing the dramatic oxy footage when it had nothing to do with the story they told? (This was the first day of the sports comment story being on the news, btw.) Them being so eager to play it over and over while never mentioning drugs until one snippet of the last sentence was SO over the top STUPID that they looked like nobody payed attention to the video - like when they get the video order screwed up and show some local politician on a story about croup, for example.

Wow...the man at least acknowledges that living in the Bay Area takes you out of touch with what the majority of Americans are thinking. Kudos to you for conceding that, Plot.

Wait a minute, he doesn't have all of the facts? What facts doesn't he have? This is about Rush, is it not? Then he should have all of the facts about himself. Stalling...building up the anticipation...making it more dramatic than it need be, maybe?

It's both a concession and a proud statement, Opie_Yates (love that name). Anyway, I don't believe Rush or anyone else belongs in jail because of drug use -- Just wish hypocrisy was a crime, so he could do some time.

Yeah, I think what he meant to say was "I'm waiting for my lawyers to tell me what to say." He's toast...

Wether you like the man or not, I don't care for his ego, however I believe the media doesn't know any more today than they did when the story was announced a few nights ago. I just don't understand the hypocrisy of people on this board. Just read all the "holidays, what do I do for WD's and the I'm going to rehab stories on here. Rush's comment on drugs was in 1995 a full 2 years prior to any insinuated use from his house maid's tabloid story. Tell me if anyone faced with the same allegations that he is wouldn't get a lawyer and not answer questions? Who on here really knows what medical conditions he has or had? He could be in the same boat as many people on this board. The main differance is he is popular and controversial. Just when we need more press on scheduled narcotics this story breaks. Isn't there an expression about people living in glass houses throwing stones?
Take care. Billylll

I'll tell you what worries me most about this story.
There's an old French saying, let's see how to translate it....
"There is no one so quick to condemn or quite so moral as a reformed courtesan."
All we need is this mouthy son of thousands and father to none suddenly deciding that he is 'saved' and that others should be 'protected' now from the temptations he faced.

Amen to that Prettyday!! But I thought that he had already tried and failed rehab several times, although it was kept very secret. I hope this dosent' happen.
Oh- and I originally started this post when I heard this news and DB deleted it for getting "too political". What is so different about this thread? Its starting to head in that direction.
