I think everyone has already said it so I won't re-iterate, but agree with the comments made.
I've also had an innocuous question or two, and the response was less than diplomatic or polite (i.e., rude) and my feelings were hurt and I left for awhile. I always told myself I needed to have thicker skin, but I can't understand why people can't be nicer sometimes? I don't feel as if I should change to accomodate others, but I guess the old adage you can't change the world comes into play.
I wrote a post just recently on another board that basically stated my career path, the direction it's taken and where it is now and was not asking for any sympathy at all, but someone came in and said that we should all just 'stop complaining and to stop being victims' and other, really rude things. This was just a simple post, not anything more, and I couldn't believe the response of this one poster. It's made me not want to go back to that particular board, now. I realize everyone is right in that it's best to ignore those types, take certain circumstances into account, but it's hard not to let it get to you, so I can totally empathize with ya.
Just know that the majority of people are good and during the really hard times, you'll find that out, especially when reaching out for support (I've found that to be so true here and other places as well).

There are indeed a few rude posters. I too made a post that I thought would help ease another poster's scare about drug seizure and steps that could be used to lessen the paper trail by not using a credit card. One poster was so rude, he pissed me off so much that I left.
I decided that this is basically a good forum and that there are jerks everwhere. It's just especially easy to hide behind an alias on posting your Best if kept off the board if you are a trouble maker. These types of posters are cowards and should be banned. This particular poster had made several enemies of other posters also.
I find that forums tend to become cliquish but most things do in life. That makes boards seem unfriendly.
But the reason for this board to exist is to offer answers, support and if you know an answer, then contibute.

You make good points. I am glad you decided to come back.
The thing to remember is none of us like being attacked, or watching someone else attacked without a good reason. Who would like that?
After you make a few posts, you do end up making friends that you aren't aware of...
Long time posters read, and watch, and figure out who is polite and helpful. I think we try to help new people.
I hope you feel you can PM anyone and ask for help.
There are forums here I do not read anymore, simply because there is so much information and I don't require all of it.
Take care and please feel free to PM me if I can help in any way.

I agree. There is NOTHING wrong with any of the people here.
They are all great. Whether I agree with them or not, they are all helpful and I've learned a lot and enriched my life and mind because of them.
Sonick, your posts (while I do not always agree with them ) are always wonderfully articulate, intellectual, and fantastically philosophical. It's rare to find that kind of insight and command of the "King's English" these days.
OKay, I don't think there's anything wrong with the poeple on these boards. We are an accurate representation of humanity. Plain and simple. How utterly boring it would be if we were all always pleasant, polite, and agreed with everything. Ugh. That's like always and forever eating vanilla icecream.
Of course that's just my opinion. I love this board. That includes everyone on it.

I have belonged to other boards and gotten attacked and flamed (not this one, though!!)....and my best advice which was given to me is to just IGNORE them. There is always going to be one or two people who feel like they have to act like jerks, so forget about them and focus on the many GOOD people on this board! It's hard to do, I know, and I got my feelings hurt quite a bit in the past on those boards, even to the point of tears...so, I used to come back fighting and it just made matters worse....when I began to ignore them, they realized they couldn't get to me and quit their nonsense!
Hugs,
Skylark

You have, in your opinion, been treated in an unpolite way.
One of our most important rules is to be polite. We do not want unpolite posters.
The best thing to do in those cases it to contact us, to let us know there is a problem. It is best to send us a PM or to press the notify moderator button.
We do not like to see posts saying "others are bad but I am OK" because it creates a bad feeling among members, members may think you are talking about them, and does not really help the moderators in any way as they can not guess who you are talking about or which post offended you.
Please notify the moderator when a member is rude to you and rest assured that the moderator will take the proper measures.

I would just like to say that most days I feel like I am bad but everyone else is OK.
And when I think of all the things that are wrong with me, well, I just pull a Scarlett O'Hara and think about tomorrow!

I would like to add that when one is trying to convey thoughts and feelings, etc. without the benefit of tone of voice, gestures and the like, it can come off wrong, not what the poster intended. does that make sense?? There have been times when a few of my posts have been totally misunderstood.-----I swear, this stuff sounds good in my head... don't let it bother ya.

I agree. Especially when you throw being disabled, anxiety, pain, frustration and the like into the mix,it's harder sometimes to bridge that gap between thought process and the typed word. At least through the years I have found this to be the case with me.
Getting the thought from the head to the hand doesn't always come out right, but good intentions are there.
