I hope not MrB. Here's a new one going around I wanted to warn everyone of:
New SPAM Email - Spyware disguised as a Greeting Card !
New SPAM Email is circulating - beware and delete it.
A spam e-mail with the header, "Spy on Anyone by sending them an Email-Greeting Card!" According to this thing, a keylogger is installed when the victim opens the greeting card.
Keyloggers record every keystroke made by the victim. If you open a card, and the keylogger is installed on your computer, it could send your passwords, your messages, Web sites visited--everything!--to the person who sent you the card.
This is NOT to be confused with the E-cards you receive from your friends from "Blue Mountain" or from "Hallmark" online, but is a genuine spam from a "no name".
If you think you've been a victim of one of these foolish pranks, scan at housecall/trend, your Spybot should catch it, or if you use the new Spy Sweeper, it will too. Adaware is lagging way behind on these things again, so use it for other types of Adware.

I know what you mean. A lot of AOL users are getting a scam e-mail stating that someone charged flowers from 1-800Flowers on their credit card and they have to go to a website and verify the charges. Of course, once you get to that website it asks you to enter your credit info, name, addy, SSN and LIMIT on your credit card. Unfortunately, people are falling for the scam. There are a lot of scams going around. The best place I know of to find out all info about scams, hoaxes, and if whether an e-mail you receive is legit is http://www.snopes.com. If you click on Inboxer Rebellion, you can find out what the latest e-mail going around is. They also give info on a lot of those scam "Forward to 1000 people and get a freee gift certificate" and others. My favorites are the ones that state that someone has rented an e-mail tracker to track a certain e-mail everywhere it goes. There is no such thing as an e-mail tracker, and I hope that no one actually believes that Best if kept off the board. Now if you all will send this post out to 50 people, Honda will give you $5000 towards the purchase of a brand new car!

I don't have AOL but I tell you, the ones from Ebay look so real it's scary. If you click on the links in those emails, the address that shows in the status bar at the bottom of your browser is always different than what is contained in the link itself.
Surely these guys get caught? You would almost have to, right?

I read an article on msnbc (I think it was) that they, the scammers, usually get about 20 responses to these emails. That's a low number for the amount they email out, but it's still 20 credit card numbers and other personal information that they were able to get.
So yes, there are gullible people out there. And some of the spoof sites look very real.
I report everyone of those emails to the "real" website. I've reported these to ebay and paypal. I had a friend who got one from a scammer posing as Best Buy. She reported it also.

Thanks for the heads up,Legit.
I receive cards at my real addy, but haven't seen this one.Spooky.
It's good to run SpyBot after any unusual email received,or I do IF I open it. I'm a dummy sometimes and click on an email when my mind is on something else, and Poof~there is something crazy. I run Norton AV too when I do these goofy things.LOL!
Anyone else getting a ton of "Microsoft Patch" emails? I get about 3 a day and tried to block, but it wont block for some reason.Thank goodness I read on DB where this is a virus.

Yeah, MrB,unfortunately some do fall for these scams. What really concerns me is when an elderly person gets scammed.
Burns my butt when I read about anyone getting taken by these crooks, but especialy the elderly on fixed incomes.
