Saw my PCP today
      #104129 - 09/30/03 06:15 PM

This is an update to my prior post about taking too much meds. I saw my PCP today and told him point blank that I CANNOT take these daily headaches and that I have tried everything under the sun to stop them. NO caffeine, watching what I eat (I lost 11 lbs since my visit there 6 wks ago) no MSG, no cheese etc. I have been down this road before about watching what I eat & drink to see if I have "triggers" that start the headaches. I have kept a diary in the past for this. I decided to try again to see if something I was doing was causing the headaches. Granted, with the Lortab was taking I probably was experiencing the "rebound headaches", which I have suffered from before.
Anyway, I requested that he send me to a Pain Clinic. I told him that this has affected my quality of life and this has to stop. I however, did NOT tell him about my use of OP's recently and this board. I know I he would have "blacklisted" me and that would be the end of it since I would be labeled the rest of my life as a drug seeker. That is far from the truth! I just want to live my life normal (or as close to it as I can get).
My PCP is referring me first to a neurologist before the Pain Clinic to rule out any underlying conditions that may be causing the headaches. My PCP looked at my file and I have been suffering for 7 years! He sent me to this neuro before 7 years ago when the headaches started after a car accident. Anyway, I am making the appt tomorrow and go through what I have to in order to get into a Pain Clinic. I will let you all know how it goes. I have stopped the Lortab (actually ran out yesterday), I have not had any w/d's yet but I am sure tomorrow I will, I am taking the Immodium w/me to work.
Thanks for this great board and members and the support, info you provided on my other thread. I also read the thread about the experience at the Pain Clinic from another member & all the responses and I really have hope right now!! THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!!

Good Luck.
Once the neuro rules out other conditions, be swift and firm on getting to a PM doc.

I'd just hate to see you stuck...

Hi!
Just wanted to wish you luck. I also have my first appointment with a pain doc on Monday and I'm stressing pretty badly. Hopefully it will work out great for both of us!

Purple,
How did it go at work today being off Lortab for the second day? I hope your PCP gave you a script for something (Norco or Percocet) so you can at least taper down.

Going cold turkey sucks at 130 mg hydro / day. I should know - I'm on 20-25 Norcos per day (250 mg hydro) and trying to taper down.

So far so good with being off the Hydro for the second straight day. No w/d's so far, I am feeling good. Will see what happens tomorrow, still have the Immodium w/me but didn't need it yet today. Will keep you posted.
