FDA Finds Hundreds of Unapproved Drug Imports

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Recent inspections turned up hundreds of potentially dangerous prescription drug imports as Americans sought cheaper medicines from abroad, U.S. health officials said Monday.
Of 1,153 packages intercepted, 88 percent, or 1,019, contained unapproved versions of medicines that may present a health risk, the Food and Drug Administration (news - web sites) said.

I'm guessing, or rather hoping, that this is a very low number relative to the actual amount coming in, and that it is not much higher than the previous months. But I'm a newbie, anyone with experience knowledgeable in this matter? It's of particular interest to me.

I read an interesting article in the Sunday paper, picked up by AP that told how the Patriot Act was being utilized by law enforcement to catch "ALL" criminals....even if it had nothing to do with terrorism....This is what's seriously wrong with panicking and allowing legislation to be passed that undermines privacy rights in the name of national protection! The patriot act will be a Boon to Law enforcement in the IOP seizure dept.

SO TRUE!!! There's nothing like having the FDA OR GOVERNMENT in general just take it upon themselves to "Walk in our front (or usually back) doors, take a seat in OUR living rooms and make their uninvited BUTTS right at home!!! They need to spend OUR MONEY on issues WE FIND IMPORTANT...NOT meddle and waste OUR MONEY in the name of trying to protect us...BS!!!! I post, vote, etc. anywhere or anytime I come across an article or site that MIGHT help get what WE AMERICANS actually want and I urge any and all of you to do the same. IF WE DON'T STAND UP FOR OUR RIGHTS WE WILL LOSE THEM! The government is taking over our lives little by little and I for one do not like it!!

This news story adds a little more information to the story.Dubya's administration is pushing to stop iop's. A bill making it legal to buy drugs from some countries passed the house, but doubtful if it will pass the senate. We all need to write to our senators about this and any of us that are in AARP need to contact them also.

Let's examine this a little..1153 little packages/envelopes "grabbed" by goverment slueths/clerks on stools,busily counting sick & vacation days..and protecting us from our mail..while waiting ever-vigilant for breaktime to arrive..everybody got the picture? Now understand that this is repeated by a hundred stools at every major postal entry point in the U.S. NOW..if you divide 1153grabs by 60 days of sluething by Nine Zillion stool dwellers(If they work weekends..VERY doubtful indeed)..you arrive at about 19grabs per day per Nine Zillion stool slueths..very good work on their parts..keep up the outstanding work! Any math wizards out there?..divide 1153 by Nine Zillion to get "per stool dweller performance" for the 60 days...I dare say it divides down to very near ZERO! Uuupps! Breaktime here...bye!!!
