Hello all, thanks for letting me be here.
I have neck/shoulder problems, constant pain and uncomfortable joints and I have been to many orthopaedics over the last couple years, but I have travelled extensively during that time. I move a lot, so I don't really have much records. But I do have an MRI that shows 'minor disc deterioration' on a couple vertebre in the neck. Funny enough, after getting that mri last year, my orthopaedic says my mri showed up fine. (I didn't notice what the record said til later.) He only will give me darvocet, which i cannot take, makes me very sick to the stomach. Anyway, I have that mri report, but not much other medical records pertaining to this... maybe a couple xray records, but not the doctor's notes or anything. Is that enough or do have to call around and come up with a more complete file? I often go without treatment for long periods because i don't have insurance or any pcp in particular, and because everything the 4 docs i've been to tried didn't really help, i get frustrated and so I haven't been in about a year. Well, to top it off, i recently developed coccydynia (can barely sit down.) Waiting for insurance but need something in the meantime. Sorry to talk so long, but thank you for any help!

Thats not really enough records to go the records route. You need some kind of doctors notes. But there is always the non records route. Its way more expensive, but if you need the meds and you have the $$$ you may want to try them out. Read the threads to see who has minimal requirements-good luck

does your mri specifically say what the injury is?
My mri says tear in l-4-5 with narrowing, buldge L-1. I went through AAA meds.com last year, and Dr accepted the mri reading, as records.

How old is your MRI report, TLT? I'm going to ask my doc. for a copy of my MRI report as well as my records dating back to November of last year (prolly not a lot in there- I only go in to see him once every 6 months to a year unless something comes up) so that I can jump on the 'medical records but cheaper drugs' bandwagon, lol. Though, my MRI report is from June 2001. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the feedback everyone, its helping! The MRI report is from nov. of last year. I was just looking at it again, and I'm even more stupefied: I notice on the second page I am also diagnosed with central canal stenosis. WTF was my doc talking about when he said the mri came out fine??? Anyway, I'm sure I could get his notes, but he was an idiot I think. Gave me prednisone at first, but when that just gave me side effects, he gave me an nsaid, no effect so he comes off with the darvy, nasty Best if kept off the board. That canal stenosis explains the coccydynia like symptoms I've got. Best if kept off the board... but another thing is that I'm only 22. I notice one records OP says you must be 25. Is this AAA? I'm checking them now...

I don't understand with AAA. They don't offer a list of supplied meds or a choice to pick which med you want. Do you just have to go with whatever the doctor decides? How can I be sure he'll give me hydro? (I've tried several other things, it works best/easiest). Is YOD the same way? I prefer at least 60/month, two a day keeps me comfortable, as i've found from other sources. Should I tell the doc straight up, I need two a day at least?
Thanks again!

When you get the dr on the phone be honest and expain what works for you. These people are drs just like ones you have seen face to face but they are more friendly when it comes keeping you pain free if possible. I am sure a dr would be willing to give you 60 a month based on a BAD MRI. Don't know what your dr was thinking but I am not too familiar with backs. Many of us on here wish 2 a day would help us.
I would email an OP and ask them if what you have is enough and tell them your age up front. I won't waste my time with an OP who asks for minimal documents....Start emailing ones that require more proof. They will treat you better in the long run.
Good Luck!

When I called and asked the manager of the OP where I had my last consult he said two pages was the norm. It sounds like your records have a diagnosis on it. Why don't you call and ask if this is enough?
Also an MRI is an expensive procedure which means you must have had enough pain for your doctor to request it. I posted my experience in the "personal feedback" forum. good luck ~ You have nothing to lose by calling to ask

THanks for all the help!
