That sounds like the same EXACT thing I went through when I stopped taking Valium. I literally had my house Ice cold from the air condit and I was still sweating like I was in the desert. Also, the nasuea, I COULD NOT EAT and lost 28 pounds in close to 3 weeks. Valium withdrawl can kill you. I started taking them again, not at the same level I had been, and am weaning myself off of them. Call a hospital Detox or a Rehab and just talk to the person. I was on 10mg, 1 3 times a day for some REALLY severe anxiety, but over time, that wasn't cutting it and
I was taking about 10 a day and that's when I knew it had to stop. But stoppping cold is not the answer, you HAVE to slowly come off them.
I hope this has been helpful, PLEASE feel free to PM me if I can be of anymore help.
I sincerely wish you the best of luck
Summer

To all who are on benzo's and thinking of stopping. you must tapper down. most benzo's are used to prevent sezuires (sp). if you are at a higher dose or on for long time fram you can actually induce a sezuire.

Is there a different way of withdrawing? I normally take shortish-acting pills, i.e.ativan etc. The way I manage it is to wait till the wd/s are too bad to handle, then take the absolute minimum needed to relieve the w/d symptoms. And repeat, until you wean yourself off. Incidentally, I find Zopiclone the most evil drug to withdraw from..... far worse than any conventional benzo, despite it's "almost non-addictive" handle. Bromazepam, on the other hand, I find easy to come off. If you read the literature in the pack it reccomends a maximum treatment time of 12-15 weeks, which is somewhat longer than recommended for most! A nice benzo - works fast, works well, and not hard to quit.

Taking 5mg a day for two months is not "REELLY" that much, it could me that you're sensitive to benzos and have more of a tendency to experience withdrawal symptoms. I've taken as much as 50mg a day for a few months and stopped cold turkey and the only things are experienced were in the realms of psychological then physical, like being depressed, and "REELLY anxious", and severe insomnia no sleep what's so ever, no matter what I took. But then again everyone's different. Just watch-out for seizures, which can occur if you suddenly stop taking benzos cold-turkey after a long time. Don't worry, the symptoms will slowly lift after about two-to-three weeks. I've felt what you feel now, I know it can be scary, but don't worry, you'll pull out of it. The thing to remember is, if you were taking Valium for anxiety, it will take you back to that level of anxiety before you took benzos (sorry to say they are only a temporary fix for anxiety), so you will go from increased anxiety to reduced anxiety over time and then just plateau to your previous level of anxiety and remain there until you find alternative methods of relief, Believe it or not, after two weeks of going through hell, I was able to find relief after spending 5 hours in the park on a low-humid sunny bright day. I finally found the relief I was looking for and it came in the form of sunlight, which scientists say naturally boosts you serotonin levels (I didn't "REELLY" believe that until it actually happened), you can't get it through flourescent or incandescent light sources. Anyway, I thought I mention it to you, it wasn't that far back, but I do remember being in a state of confusion and feeling wired and losing alot of weight quickly. I feel for you, if you can through without benzos then go for it. The hydro might take the edge off a bit but you won't find the relief until the med leaves your body. And Valium has a long half-life, I think it's about 8 days, that's why it takes about three weeks to regain some of composure back. It's not as back as the rebound anxiety and insomnia you feel from Halcion or Xanax, that will send you in psychotic zones. Anyway hope you feel better and keeping drinking water so that the med can be flushed-out of your system.
