Has anyone been able to use the FEDEX form that says they can leave your package at your door(or a safe place) without a signature? Its on the back of the notice they leave when you are not home when they try and deliver. I am always at work so I always miss package delivery. In the past I have been able to stop the package at the hub to save them a trip. But now they say I cant do that until I miss a delivery. I am trying to save them a trip becuase I know they always attempt deliveries before noon in my area. So I have to go to the hub the day after. I was just wondering if they would do that with med packages if I sign and tell them its ok.

Hi Caseysmama,
I spoke with FedEx just a few weeks ago about this very subject.(non-med-related-pkg). I was told I could not pick it up at the Hub unless I had missed the first delivery attempt. When I ask if I could leave a signed note,I was told "No,if it requires a signature over age 21,it must be signed in front of the carrier".
However, I have read on DB where other members have been able to do this if they have a 'relationship' with the FedEx carrier, like it is always the same carrier that delivers to the recipient. This is my experience only.
Good Luck,
J.

I leave a signed note on the door and they leave the package. Never had a problem.

If your package always comes FedEx, you can change your shipping address to the address of the FedEx Hub. That way it will be held at the hub and you can pick it up. You can also request overnight (not priority) and still be able to pick it up by 9:00 AM.

Yup, same goes for me. Leave a signed note or even if I forget, he still leaves it. Great guy he is. On the internet tracking it always says. Delivered, signature on file.

Yes, that's what I always do with FedEx packages - have them shipped directly to the FedEx location in my area and go pick it up in the morning. Never had a problem with this so far, although I always ask the OP if it's okay to use the hub as my shipping address. Many of them are okay with this. This is less trouble for me to drive over there and pick it up instead of waiting for them when I know the package needs a signature. Plus, like Stacy said, once the package hits town no matter how it was shipped, you can go get it.

You can go to the hub and sign a "Signature on file" card and they keep the card and you will never have to sign for a fed-ex package because you (they) have that on file! Anglwink

I leave a note taped to the door also (before I had put my signature on file) the note must have the date and your signature. I also never had a problem with this. Anglwink

It's ALWAYS worked for me too. Write the tracking # at the bottom by your name, your signature and a thank you... shouldn't be a problem. Good luck.

Wow,
This FedEx rep must either not be aware of this or didn't want to take the time to assist me. She seemed genuinely concerned.
Oh well..now I know thanks to the cool members here.
Amazing you guys know more than FedEx! (I'll take your word anyday over them from now on).
Thanks!

Hey Jer:
I have found out that it really depends on your particular driver, whether it be FedEx or UPS. One driver may be very "by the book" at all times, where another may be very lenient.
Anglwink has the definitive solution though if in doubt:
"You can go to the hub and sign a "Signature on file" card and they keep the card and you will never have to sign for a fed-ex package"

You guys are soooo lucky! I tried leaving a note, signature, and date, and they would not leave the package. I have the same lady driver and she knows who I am and that I always take the packages. I am going to see if I can get my sig on file at the hub, so I am not waiting around all day for the package!

I'm wondering why you can't have the package held at the fedex location?
I shipped a package just yesterday to hold at location. All you need to do is in fedex lingo 'put the address of the fedex place on the airbill and check the 'hold at location' box'
Paid for 3 day express delivery... it was ready to be picked up at 9:30AM the day after I dropped it off.

It doesn't even have to be marked "hold for pickup" if you use the FedEx hub address as the shipping address.
Also, like I said earlier, if you do this, you can pay for overnight instead of priority overnight and pick it up by 9:30 am.
Now if it is a Saturday delivery, you still have to pay for overnight/with Saturday delivery.

If a package is sent out on Friday (addressed to the hub) overnight, it will not be available for pick up until Monday.
If you want to pick it up Saturday, you have to send it overnight with Saturday delivery. It cost extra for Saturday delivery.

They'll leave a package from PKW for me with just a note, but not Tropical. I think it has to do with the shipper's requirements.

Actually there is a 50/50 chance that the package will be there at the Hub on Saturday as that happened to me and the employee was more than happy to dig it out of the sack on a Saturday even though it was set up for Monday delivery.
You have to just track the package and see if it arrives that evening.
