Now BuyMeds Is Doing Something Similar To ERX
      #100712 - 09/17/03 09:36 AM

A direct quote from Buymeds.com:

"Buymeds.com is currently making several important changes to provide the highest level of service to you, our customers. In order to implement these changes, we are making substantial modifications to our website, internal and external procedures in the processing and administration of your order. To minimize any disruption of service to you, we have elected to temporarily suspend the scheduling of any new consultations for new patients during the time it takes us to convert our procedures.

Buymeds.com is committed to adhere to all ongoing changes in legislation for the online pharmaceutical industry. In order to comply with DEA regulations and individual state Board of Health, Medical and Pharmacy rules, our network of contracted physicians will not approve prescriptions to individuals with insufficient medical history documentation, a phone consultation, and documented proof of a physical exam.

Please note that buymeds.com does not prescribe nor dispense medication directly. Your online physician has the final authorization to approve or deny any prescription."

Looks eerily similar to that message on ERX. What the "f" is going on with these OPS?

I tried to place a "mock refill order," on Buymeds and this is what the website said:

"Face to face physical examinations by a licensed health care professional"

'Dear Patient,

Based on new legislation our doctors are requiring that a physical examination has taken place by you in the last 6 months. This is to ensure the accuracy, safety, legitimacy of your complaint and to adhere to current federal and state regulations or guidelines. Buymeds.com has contracted with a nationwide network of licensed paramedical professionals to provide physical examinations. The examination will be arranged and scheduled with you by a paramedical professional. A medical professional will come to see you in your home or office. This appointment can be scheduled during the daytime, evening or weekend, at your convenience. You must have a current, valid photo identification available for the examiner. A government issued identity card is required. The examination will be valid for one year.

Existing Customers will be required to provide proof of a current physical examination or we will schedule an examination for you before your next prescription can be approved.

Customers stating that they have a current physical examination need to fax proof of the physical examination to our toll-free fax number: (866)499-6885. Please include your name and order number. The order will be cancelled if proof is not received within 2 business days or if a new physical examination cannot be scheduled. There will be a $75 processing fee if the order is cancelled.'"

So now they are arranging for physicians to come into our homes and examine us? Not to mention an additional $75! What the "f?"

Is this legitimate? So now we need a physical exam and records? The no-record OPS are disappearing, and we are SOL...

This is actually how most OP's operate.... Most of them require either/or a portamedic or current records. With most of them, if you don't have records as recent as 1 year or so, you can substitute by doing a porta-medic. Some OP's don't use PortaMedic at all and just require recent records and ID.

This is most likely definitely legitimate - the weird thing is - there is no way these places will do any business now that require records or portamedic. Their prices are almost DOUBLE what 'regular OP's' charge. There would be no reason, for *anyone* to use them now that they require records and give no refills. I don't use BuyMeds, I use YOD - but I can't help reading these posts because I am interested in what the heck is goin' on with all these places. Looks like they have been forced into compliance/submission to me. Every morning this week, it seems like I have seen a new report of one of these OP's being totally re-vamped.

ya know what, they can't get their rxs out on time, now we are suppose to trust them with sending out a portamedic on time, don't think so.everyone used them because of the no records hassle free thing.I don't use them anyway,I think meds123,and nww, are far the best,at least when they ask for records ect. you know your dealing with a good op,so you don't mind. All I have to say is see ya buymeds, you hung around way to long, and alls you did was give yourself a bad name in doing so. while I am at it see ya erx your next in line.
