Hi, does anyone know which op does not make a phone call back to your hometown physician? I have nothing to hid about my need for hydro but my hometown physician said if anyone else including him prescribes any more hydros, I have to find another doc. Number two item: It is my understanding from the State License Board of Ohio several years ago that no doc has to take a patient but once a doc-patient relationship is established the doc cannot discontinue it, only the patient. My deduction after hearing this: of course, in reality the can 'get rid of me'
by not prescribing or treating my pain or whatever. I am espicially needing help on the opening question: Why? That doc of mine wants to abide by the laws of no doctor shopping, but he has his limits on how much hydro he will give out. Until I blew my shoulder, his quota was fine for my migraines. Now there appears to be a pinched nerve caused by a calcium deposit that moved during the time of my injury. I could take 10 hydros a day until I get this fixed. Now I have to wait until I get in to see the shoulder specialist the orthoped is referring me to. Is it possible to live in kidney stone pain for months without reprive from the pain? Can a mother live for months giving birth? What's wrong with these guys. read my next post too

Try Tropical or uspharmacy they have never called my dr. I am sure others will know of some more reasonably priced OP's Tropical is high but fast. Uspharmacy is more reasonably priced

NONE of them contact your DR, even if they did, your DR cannot even confirm you're a patient, this is the new HIPPA regulations that protect your privacy. The form for you to put down your DR's name and phone number is merely a formality. Remember you have the right to confidentiality even with an OP.

I have never heard of an OP contacting anybody's PCP (primary care physician). I think the question is on the forms we fill out just to intimidate us. The OPs know that our family docs won't prescribe the meds for us. Why else would we be using OPs? If my doc knew I was using an OP, he'd stroke out...I can just see the veins in his temples popping when I think of it.

I agree with zoe. I have never had an OP contact my PCP, that I know of. And even if they did your doctor couldn't even confirm he sees you. In fact I doubt they could even get through the receptionist. Just think, like the OPs even have the time to do such a thing, its little inconceivable, they can barely keep their heads above water the way it is now. I also really don't think they would want to draw the unneeded attention to themselves either.

Hey there
No op will call your doctor! I didn;t look at the other posters name, but as they said it is a formality. so not to worry. I am certain of this.

Dr's are not to dicuss your medical conditions unless you provide them with a signed affidavit attesting that they could, Anglwink

None of them have ever called my PCP - I dont think they do unless you seem to be a drug abuser or maybe if records werent complete or something of that nature. ( IMHO )

I have seen OP site that have consent to release forms on their sites that you can print out, sign, and send in if you are having trouble getting your records. . . but that's the closest thing to actual contact with your PCP that an OP would make.
