OK - went to my brand new "pain doctor" today for my back pain and abdominal pain. After every (humiliating) question under the sun he asked me what I had had or done before that helped, and he specifically wanted to know how my PCP and I felt about narcotics. We talked about them, and he asked me if I functioned better. I said yes, and I even lost weight. He said, that's because on the pills you're more inclined to go out of the house. So he agreed they worked.
Then, he sets me up for an MRI scan of my spine, pats me on the stomach and says "you need to lose weight" and "have a good evening!"
Excuse me I thought your specialty was pain management??? I feel he entrapped me, got me to talk about pain pills. And I do admit I want them because they HELP...
What am I to think of this? Back to the fetal position for me...and to db...
So you spent your time and money to go to this guy to be told to have a nice evening That stinks. If I were in that position I would call the next day and have the nurse or whoever take a message from me and say your are wondering what the purpose of this visit was and if you are to expect any help from this guy, don't mention expecting a script, but at least some help, or is he going to wait until he views the mri or what, ask what it is you are suppose to do at this point. Let them know you are kind of confused as to why you were sent there. That is what I would do, I would have to wait until the next day simply because I would be too pissed off to call the same day and ask. Gee, sorry that happened. This is exactly why I quit fishing for a doctor, I know that is a bad phrase, but I was suppose to go to this specialist and that specialist. I seriously think they all played golf together and juse kept referring me to their friends and I was broke and tired and ill from it and just refused to do it anymore. I do hope this guy does help ya out.
