It's my understanding that acetaminophen taken over time can present a risk of liver damage. However, apparently NAC detoxifies the risk. Anyone have any experience here?
Thanks for any feedback.

Hi amscray, if you do a search for this on DB, you will find lots of info about APAP and NAC. Just a few days ago there was a great thread about it. I think it was called "How much is too much" and it was a great thread explaining how NAC can help when you take APAP.

NAC = N-Acetyl-l-Cysteine. You can buy it at GNC or any type of specialty store that sells vitamins, herbs and minerals.

amscray,
NAC really does work. Somehow it neutralizes APAP but you must take it with your meds.
I used to get pains around lower right quadrant (liver) whenever I took over 3000mg APAP. Since I've added NAC. NO more pains!!!! For further infoCheck out that link above. That should answer all your questions. I found a good source for it www.vitacost.com 90 500mg. caps for $12.00. The stuff smells terrible but it works.
Good luck

Here's the thread a few posters mentioned: https://drugbuyers.com/freeboard/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=conditions&Number=97773&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1
Just wanted to also add that I recently bought Twinlab brand NAC (what you're likely to find at a health food store) instead of my usual GNC, and it seems to be working just as well. No noticeable signs of overdoing the APAP like I'd get normally.
