Trazadone is an anti-depressant, tho it is used by DR.'s for sleep because of it's sedative effects. Dr's can prescribe any legal drug for any reason that is reasonable, but ops may only want to prescribe medicine that it is marketed for. Trazadone is marketed for depression.
