Prednisone is a wonderfully powerful drug & a brilliant antinflammatory, but the emotional side affects can hit some people like a tornado.

If you have any sort of inclination toward depression, anxiety, paranoia - if you need to use a prozac/zoloft type medication, odds are that after a week or so you will be VERY prone to suffer violent mood swings. A dear friend with severe asthma and other respiratory ailments must take prednisone periodically, and at those times - let's just say that we're relieved she doesn't have access to firearms. On the other hand, at one time my throat was so inflamed I could scarcely swallow, and the prednisone was the only thing that cleared up the problem. Handle with care!
