Who Keeps the Records for OPs

Hiyas,

I'm wondering, who actually keeps the copy of the medical records for the OP's? Obviously, the doctor sees it, so he must have at least an electronic copy. Do they keep a file of them? Or do they just take a glance, and if they ever need to take another look, the doctor will simply request it from the OP?

The reason I ask is this: I used up my last refill at Meds123, and now I'd like to do a new consult with Ephy instead. My problem is that I cannot find for the life of me the records that I faxed. It's going to be a huge, huge hassle to get these records again because that doctor's office closed, and the new office who is maintaining the records has a 2 week waiting period and they're far away anyway. Do you think it's possible Dr. D will be able to retrieve my records from his file? I don't want to ask Ephy's customer service this because I don't want them thinking I'm DD'ing, which I'm not- I'm just switching OP's.

Anyone with experience regarding switching from one Dr. D OP to another, PLEASE PM me for some guidance.

Thanks,
-yawkaw
