That's a good point, razor. I also find myself knowing the answer to someone's question, but because I've had my hands slapped one time too many by the moderator for replying to off topic posts, I try REALLY hard not to. Then the original question doesn't get answered.

What you might try is this: First, hit the "notify moderator" button under the off-topic post. This will alert the moderator that it's in the wrong place. If the mod has time, etc, he can move it or delete it, that is up to the moderator. Second, PM the person and say you wanted to answer but it's in the wrong place, and then give them the answer by PM, and suggest a better forum for their post. That way you're helping the board by keeping posts on-topic, and you're helping a member get the information needed by PM and by suggesting the proper forum which might yield more results from other db members.
