StarDog- I don't know about Service Pack 2 protecting aginst any of these browser hijacks.
I have heard that it is very buggy, and personally, would wait a bit to download it, until Microsoft gets it right.

Even then, please don't ever count on the updates from Microsoft protecting u against spyware, adware, trojans, etc.
U need to use third party utilities .
