OH YES! I know Topomax, also termed Dopamax very well. I tried it also. I wanted off the Depakote very badly because of the awful side effects, so I weaned myself. It was tough, but I did it. I couldn't even get up to 50 mg. of topomax and my goal was 200 mg a day! We then tried Zonegran, another one like topomax, no go. then, Gabitril, again, no go, almost fainted on that one. These were supposed to help my seizure situation and also migraines. After my neuro tried all he could try, ran all the tests he could run, he cut me loose and told me to go see someone else. Nice guy, eh?

On a side note, my hubby went to the doctor (can you believe it?? over 5 yrs since he's gone). They talked about him wanting to quit smoking. the doctor mentioned Wellbutrin. Hubby shrugged it off and came home and told me and we both had a good laugh about it. This isn't the doctor I had when I had the seizure, so she prolly just doesn't recall the incident. I doubt she'll ever convince him to try it though after what happened to me out of the blue.
