The hiccup cure that has always worked for me and anyone I've recommended it to is: a slice of lemon, saturated in angoustora(sp?) bitters (you can find this at any liquor store...it's an herbal concoction used in many old timer cocktails), then cover the lemon with granulated sugar. Suck on that and bye-bye hiccups. It has not failed me once!
