What would people be willing to pay for a drop-in small tower that offers out of the box 99.9999999% data integrity and privacy for home users ? (100% is impossible with ipv4 enabled (current internet protocol or "language")). I've taken my years of global network and security experience with Bell Labs, INS, Lucent, Genuity and others I can't mention, and bundled it all into a box the size of a small PC that requires no configuration and reacts with break-in alarms and a response team much like home security systems. The system is passive towards the purchasing user, but active towards the global internet and it's unwanted elements and will be certified by governing bodies to assure purchaser privacy, as well as will have a key lock and toggle switch on the outside of the case that kills the entire monitoring system if paranoia dictates (and can be turned back on as well). Given all of the literature is impeccably descriptive and certified by as many governing and privacy bodies needed (as well as being completely OPEN source), what would people be willing to pay for this box with an entire HIGHEST echelon security system contained inside ? BTW, it has no moving parts (hard drives) and doesn't need a monitor or keyboard; the deployed life is 15+ years and requires NO user intervention, EVER. Just plug in the ethernet or phone line into the "external" jack on the box, and then your computer(s) ethernet into the switch ports marked "internal", also on the front panel of the box. The magic is already built in. If you don't have an ethernet card already, our helpdesk can walk you through installing one free of charge, and will actually include one with the kit if needed. The installation of an ethernet card is stependously simple, and we support not only Windows, but every operating system ever written. Just polling around, I have the prototype 3/4 complete and expect to take this to market by September 2004, unless someone buys out my idea first. And yeah, posting your full first and last name to a Usenet server will result in archival of that content until the end of time. Non-transparent unwitting proxies are not foolproof either, nor is PGP when used for a one-to-many purpose, nor is vigilance of your ISP; if the government wants your data they can inductively tap the copper OR fiber headed into your premises. DSL, Frame Relay, POTS/Async, ATM, PPP, HSSI, POS, SONET/SDH, etc. etc. all that can be lifted without even lifting a finger to talk to the ISP. If you're targeted, you cannot hide without the advantage of years and years of hacking experience, mainly because the technology is so sophisticated and cannot be discerned with a few weeks or months of intense reading at howto websites. That's why this box is going to be for sale, I've packaged every possible outcome for every possible protocol and put it in a box. The only downside is the initial price estimates.. to get this level of security requires FOUR separate specialized embedded computers inside of the case, and the prototype cost me $1500. That would come down with bulk, but anything short of that cannot make any guarantees. Thing is, you get what you pay for. At this very moment, businesses are paying 100,000 and up in equipment and consulting fees and STILL fall short of the security packed in this little box I'm almost finished with. Just curious how many people here think impervious borders would be worth that at home. I already have interest within the executives and diplomats etc. at their homes (you'd be SHOCKED how exposed some officials leave sensitive government data), but I'm probing to see what savvy home users and general home users would pay. This box would stand up to any independent test thrown at it, and will be patched remotely as well for new security threats within minutes of being discovered... often times BEFORE they're even announced as I am involved in the chain of disclosure within the security community (I run (technically, not bureaucratically) the fifth largest private IP network in the U.S., I HAVE to know). Literature will fully disclose everything once I have it written, but I just wanted to put out feelers and find out if security is TRULY that valuable to a majority of internet users. The product will not be available outside of the US initially due to crypto export laws. Perhaps down the road, but I'm not astute enough legally to gauge how opening branch offices will help down the road. By launch time I will have counsel to figure this out..... I'm curious to know who believes this degree of security is worth around 1500 bucks, and who thinks they are comfortable with their current efforts and would NEVER spend that kind of money.... and also who would be interested in the product but doesn't have the money, but would finance the product..... and also who would be interested in the product but can't afford financing and would be interested in a donation program to some degree.......... I think I've tapped into the future, and the future is not endless consultant billing hours and weak software filters.... |
