Hey! I subscribe to Jane. Anyone here who is comparing it to any other of the vast majority of Us periodicals that fall in the "Women" section of your local bookstore obviously isn't very familiar with it. Jane doesn't print diet articles. In the issue to which we are referring, one of the bigger stories focused on the demographics of suicide amongst medical students, and the fact that it was skewed towards female students offing themselves. For the most part Jane is focused on making fun of corporate America and the dizzying stupidity quotient of most of those magazines to which you are referring above. Sure, there's some label pandering, but they have been on the anti-Anorexic model cruisade since their inception and realize that 250$ lookalike is NOT a good "deal" for those who can't afford the real thing from Dolce and Gabana. . .the majority of their regular features are based on reader input. The blurb mentioned above was shorter than most of the replies to this post have been, both the writer and the sources were anonymous. As a subscriber I read this the first day I received it and my only reaction was, "wow, did this person overpay. Obviously must be going to buymeds or some other unreputable site that doesn't require records." Please lighten up. Maybe you should pick up an issue of Jane. or Maxim. They are both hilarious. Maxim's pretty raunchy, though. If you are in for a more serious read, try Playboy. |
