I have never had the courage to say that before, but I used to listen to the ShortWave Radio when I was a kid. The difference then between, say, BBC news, and our network news was remarkable. Now it is shocking. What is awful is the way certain stories are played up that are personal tragedies for the parties involved (Laci Peterson, JonBenetRamsey, Danielle VanDam) because there is surrounding personal details that make for lurid stories. Same with this. It is the same old "Confidential" breathless hysteria that we have been trained to only be interested in. Have you noticed lately that whenever a really relevant issue comes up, that really affects American taxpayers, and citizens, politicians and newspeople make a point to present it in a mind-numbed and obscure format, so that our little minds will just go away.
It's working. What is scary too is that lately if one pushes the point and demands clarification, that person is targeted as unpatriotic and a troublemaker. Oh, not good. You know, our current government (going back at least 100 years) did not write the marvelous Bill of Rights, or The Declaration Of Independence; so they can stop taking credit for it now, and walking around self-righteously like they arranged all this paradise for us. As for the current A.G., well, I am scared to spell his name out. I think he is channeling Hoover, McCarthy and the Witchfinder General through that himself and that makes it time to wake up and smell the coffee.
