The part of this that I find so disheartening is that after 9/11 we were a united country. A land of people who were willing to sacrifice certain freedoms as well as financially and in some cases physically to support our Govs actions. When you look at what the majority of our tax dollars are wasted on it makes me sad to be an american. All of that patriotism and all of the money raised and all of the new homeland security that we allowed to happen all so that the gov could waste it's time on this. I know it's off the subject a bit but I was watching a documentary on the waco Korresh thing the other day. I had always thought that the sacifants living in that compound probably had allot to do with what happened to them. After watching the whole unbaised documentary in which several senators and other members of our govt called out the DEA and the ATF for their actions it only further pointed out to me how truly screwed we all are. I have spent 2/3rds a year of my life for the past 20 year (almost) living out of the country. I couldn't wait for each season to end so I could get back to the greatest country on earth and would do a countdown calendar marking down the days to get home. (10 days and a wake up etc) I was always shocked to watch how the rest of the worlds news was so much better than ours and so much more unbiased than it is here. I was shocked to see how many more significant freedoms that allot of other countries have that we have given up. It wouldn't have bothered me if it weren't for the fact that WE are SUPPOSED to be THE home of the FREE. Sorry for the rambling and I will stop. This story just saddens me to my soul and shows us all that where once a land where honesty and credibility in journalism were paradigms of it's system, we are left with sensationalistic refuse who's ony purpose is to harm the innocent and make a buck. When will we the people work together to make a significant change and bring the greatest country on earth back to the place it deserves to be. |
