Re: Dimebag Darrell Shooter on Psych Drugs

Quote:

Nathan Gale, who was shot dead by a police officer during a shooting spree in a Columbus Ohio metal nightclub, was taking psych meds for a mental disorder. He was apparently viewed around tatoo parlors and the city's metal community as one of the oddest birds in town.

Anyone want to bet he was put on SSRIs by the VA AND was drinking heavily?

I'll take that bet. I happen to know from first hand experience and watching others, that if one is taking SSRIs, that better be it; even certain herbal supplements are not safe.

Yet another misrepresentation from Big PHARMA; SSRIs are not the "clean" drugs they were made out to be. In fairness, maybe they (SSRIs) had to be around for twenty or more years before this was made clear.

Back in the day, when I bartended, people popped their Prozac when they saw fit, with their beer, at the end of the day at my bar. I saw a change over the course of an hour; more, just more anger, irritation.

Prozac and its ilk work alone, with therapy. For some people. Mixed with alcohol, it is a recipe for failure at least, disaster at best. Mixed with cocaine, speed, etc, and alcohol, Prozac has featured in some prominent murders and suicides. I don't know what the drug was in this case, but I am very sad that once again, someone fell thru the cracks, and took five people with him; not to mention the trauma of the survivors, who will probably be pushed in the direction of SSRIs as well, to 'get over things.'
