The war on drugs is a joke. If it was about helping people, the majority of resources would be spent on treatment as that has been shown to be the most effective and efficient means of controlling drug abuse. Instead its a war on the poor and others without a voice. The drug war is an easy way to target undesirables and basically further marginalize minorities and the poor in our society as well as others. 400,000 die a year from tobacco in this country, but only 16,000 die from illicit drug use. Yet our country is using military force to kill the crops and people of Columbia because of a "war on drugs". Its a war on those who oppose US global economic dominance and the small columbian farmers are just in the way...it has little to do with drugs.
