WOW!! That is fantastic news for the field of addiction medicine!! Too bad it will take forever for the FDA to approve it. I hope maybe because bup is already FDA approved - this will push thru a bit quicker than a "new" drug would. I wonder how it difficult it will be to obtain though. Right now, even the pill form of bup (suboxone) is very difficult to obtain. It can only be prescribed by a specially trained and certified doctor. The pill is a "wonder drug" to those that use it - I imagine this long acting IM version will be even better.
