The Oz - from what I have been reading - is/was also being treated for his pharmaceutical opiate addiction with...... guess what? Buprenorphine, Buph, Temgesic, whatever the current term is..... Yep was in buprenorphine/subutex therapy to try to get off the opioids. This will be one of the first cases I have seen where Buprenorphine therapy will probably be discussed in the media.... Buph gets kind of ignored for the most part, most people don't even know it exists and still think Methadone is the only option for a 'detox med' - Wonder how this will affect the view on Buph treatment? Hope it is portrayed in a good way (it helped him) and given a bad name. Buph is just starting to be accepted as a useful detox med (which anyone who has taken it KNOWS it is, much better than methadone (the other biggest alternative) - I really want to see Buph therapy take off in this country, and become more accepted. Wonder if this will help or hinder the cause??
