Re: We owe a big thanks to the Vicodin Spam emails

One way to guarantee a healthy influx of spam is to correspond with Usenet newsgroups. While Usenet newsgroups are completely legit, they're also a spammers dream come true when it comes to scamming e-mail addresses from posts. I belong to about 6 such groups and I get a *ton* of spam. If you do belong to any ng's, make sure that you use the handy little option that inserts extra characters into your e-mail address that renders it unusable without having to manually go in and change it. I did this way too late in my newsgroup career and still pay for it! And even then you're not safe. A friend of mine told me that enterprising e-geeks spend days "harvesting" clean e-mail adresses and cleaning up the ones that have the anti-spam safeguards. I do receive lots of RX spam every week, but most of the spam I get is porn realted stuff. FWIW, I've been checking out the RX spam as of late. Just about every one I get these days connects to the "90 Day Refill" crowd. It used to only be meds like fioracet and phentermine, never hydro, but that's all changed in recent weeks.
