Supri,
6/01 I finally had an MRI ordered by my Ortho. Surgeon- I was diagnosed with 2 bulged discs in my lower spine and lordosis- misshapen spine in the cervial area. The cough syrup I was prescribed because I had a horrible cough along with a cold and didn't want to use my limited supply of Vicodin for that- so I asked my doc for it and he gave it to me. In Washington state, you don't need an Rx for cough syrup with codeine, I'm assuming it's similar to hydro? I don't know that for a fact, that's speculation- but there was no sense using my Vicodin for the cough if I wouldn't have it for the pain in my back. And no, my copay for the Rx is all that's needed- I call my doc, tell him I need another Rx and he gives it to me, no appt. necessary. The gas is minimal, prolly less than a dollar and since the V I get from my doc is $8 add gas at approximately $.50 because he's close, it's not cheaper to get it online, it's just more beneficial as they'd give me more. As for your tolerance question, who said I had a tolerance? I've had to take 3 5/500's to get pain relief since I first began taking them because the pain is that great when I DO take them and having such a limited supply, I have to use sparingly. This is my primary- I saw a physiatrist (your Pain Management doc., I suppose) who told me to do certain exercises and my back pain would mysteriously vanish. Okay, well, I work out 1-2 x's daily- nothing is helping. The problem is, my discs have not fused yet, and have progressively gotten more painful and more frequent over time. Keep in mind, it's been 2 years since my MRI- things have probably gotten worse.
