I can only say I have second-hand knowledge about entering on the El Paso side via Juarez. DO NOT GO ALONE. Pre-9/11, my father (who was just there for bargain shopping) had to walk a very scared, very alone American female back over the border who admitted she had no idea what she had gotten herself into. There is strength in numbers! Never have money in your pockets or anyplace obvious. Shoes are good, but still not very safe. I don't care if you are going for meds, to shop or any other purpose. It's not worth your well-being or possibly your life.
