I had more sympathy for the LE officers, who gave up their free time to sit in the hall outside the court for hours waiting never to be called to testify. Even though I often disagreed with their value systems, they were the ones making the potentially dangerous stop at 3AM Saturday, while the judges and lawyers (and PO's) were sleeping soundly.
Maybe it's different where you live, but here the LE officers are on shift or OT when in court.
