Re: Getting Disability Benefits (US) Update

This is one of another huge myth of disability, NEVER obtain an atty until you reach the third appeal-judge stage of disability claims. They will only take your money. An Atty DOES NOTHING for you except take a percentage of your check (if you get one). I have been doing this for 5 years, and have probably spoke with maybe 2 atty’s on the phone this whole time. People think that atty’s will help them, they don’t. We as examiners don’t even look at what an atty does. We look at the medical records. Your medical records are what get you your check, NOT some atty. So, please, don’t let these greedy people take your money. I have such disdain for atty’s that advertise and tell people they can help them. All they are doing is taking these disabled people’s money. Sad Sad. Also, don’t have your doctor write a letter with some opinion saying your ‘disabled’. A doctor may know a lot about your condition, but he knows nothing about the laws, SSA, and disability, so his ‘opinion’ on whether your disabled will not help either. The biggest advice I can give all of the people seeking disability. Have good medical evaluations/records with a clear diagnosis of your condition. That is the only way to get a check. No opinion of some doctor or an atty will do it. I have been doing this everyday and know the system very well. If anyone has specific questions, PM me.
