TLT, Whether or not your ex would be required to contribute anything from his SSI benefits could be answered by contacting your local Child Support Enforcement Office in your state. They could check into this for you. When I was employed by Human Services in my state (TN) I did know of circumstances where support was ordered to be paid from SSI benefits. Usually this is determined on a case by case basis as far as I know and whether or not he has any other of type of assistance such as someone else providing part of his living expenses, etc. would probably factor in to this.
