Sorry but I have to chime in here, please forgive for being off topic. I do agree that getting benefits for being "grossly" overweight isn't fair. I don't agree with "losing weight is easy". The problem is, is that too many people in this world still have "overweight" stuck in their heads as an EATING TOO MUCH problem, and a cosmetic issue. Obesity has gone past the twinkie stuffing problem into an actual DISEASE. Morbidly obese people would love to have a your magic solution for easy weight loss. Billions of dollars are spent each year to beat the bulge in this country and it will continue to increase until people start looking at this problem in the proper light. Most people don't know it but the American government came out with the food pyramid, and unfortunately it is backwards. Studies are just now coming out how the original food pyramid is ruining peoples lives and bodies. Now I am not trying to offend anyone, please forgive me if I do. I just know that there are people facing certain death from being overweight that didn't ask for it and didn't stuff their faces with the pastry factory. Not all of us agree with people getting benefits for the reasons that they do. I don't agree with the fact that insurance companies would rather pay for someones diabetes medications, high blood pressure medications, blown knee cap surgeries, and many more than I can list, just because they are overweight and refuse to treat the actual reason why these people are having to use these meds and procedures. Many people no longer have need for such treatments and medications after losing weight. They would rather treat the issues not the problem, because being overweight is seen as COSMETIC and their own fault. I don't agree with paying higher insurance costs because of the way it is looked at. I can't understand why insurance companies will pay for the issues surrounding being overwieght for the rest of a persons life instead of treating it like the DISEASE that it is. I don't agree with the fact that insurance companies won't insure you if you are more than 10% of your ideal body weight, they will never tell you that but it is true. I am just going to leave it at that because I have done so much research in this area that I don't want to overload anyone. |
